Industry Leader Scott Hines to Spearhead Company's Continued Product and Services Leadership in Direct-to-Consumer Commerce Market
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ., October 25, 2004-- Vcommerce Corporation, the leading provider of solutions for direct-to-consumer initiatives, today announced that it has appointed Scott Hines as chief operating officer. Hines, formerly senior vice president of global store systems and chief technology officer at JDA Software, will be responsible for leading Vcommerce's development, client implementation and customer service initiatives.
"We're thrilled to have Scott join us from such a retail-industry leader as JDA," said Dan Clarke, Vcommerce's CEO. "As one of JDA's early employees, he's uniquely qualified to help scale Vcommerce into a large, successful business. With his expertise in dealing with JDA's complementary technologies, he can immediately take charge of implementing the results of our unprecedented wave of sales growth."
"With Scott's expertise in delivering advanced technologies, our clients will be in the best of hands - no matter how large or complex their businesses may be," said Dan Kennedy, Vcommerce's president and chief technology officer. "Scott is the perfect addition to the management team at this point in our growth, freeing me to focus on the next generation of our solutions."
"Three main things drew me to Vcommerce," said Hines. "First was their annuity-based business model, which has proven to be very successful. Second was the technology - after leading JDA's acquisition efforts, I saw many, many companies, and Vcommerce's architecture and capabilities really stood out. Third was the company's leadership - Vcommerce has attracted the strongest technology management team of any small company in the Valley."
Hines will be responsible for setting up a lean infrastructure to help enable the company to scale beyond its current revenues without placing unwieldy processes on the business. He will guide all phases of development and client operations, from platform development to customer service to transaction management. He started his new position on Monday October 18, reporting directly to Vcommerce's CEO.
Hines brings to Vcommerce more than 17 years of experience in technology leadership, primarily serving the retail and manufacturing industries. He joined JDA in 1993 as associate director of store systems product development, and quickly rose to senior management. While at JDA, he was responsible for developing JDA's In-Store Systems, setting the technology direction for JDA's suite of products and advancing new technology ventures. His success earned him "2002 Leader of the Year" honors from AZsoft.net (now the Arizona Technology Council) and made him a regular on the retail speaking circuit.
Previously, Hines served as president of DataWorks, Inc. and as director of MIS for US Hosiery Corporation, a privately held textile manufacturing company. He holds a bachelor of science degree in molecular biology from Carnegie Mellon University.
